The new Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges pairs its 41mm steel case with rose-gold bridges and 50m water resistance, at $182,000.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges Adds Rose-Gold Detail and 50m Water Resistance

Girard-Perregaux’s new Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges makes a focused change to last year’s limited model: rose gold replaces white gold across the movement’s signature bridges, hands and indices. The update gives the skeletonized dial more contrast, while a water-resistance rating that rises from 30m to 50m adds a practical specification change. The watch costs $182,000 and joins the brand’s Laureato Fifty catalog without a production limit.

The model brings together two strands of Girard-Perregaux history: the Laureato integrated sports watch and Constant Girard’s Three Bridges movement architecture. The brand presented a 50-piece version at Dubai Watch Week last fall. This new edition carries that combination into the Laureato Fifty line as the Three Bridges design approaches its 160th anniversary next year.

That history is expressed through the open movement rather than a surface motif. Three arrow-shaped bridges run vertically across the dial, framing the mainspring barrel and platinum micro-rotor, the gear train and hands, and the tourbillon. The arrangement makes the movement’s structure the watch’s central visual feature. Each movement is assembled by a single watchmaker and has 418 hand-polished angles.

A familiar case with a warmer movement

The case and core movement specifications carry over from the previous model. The watch measures 41mm across and 10.85mm thick, with a stainless-steel case and an 18K white-gold bezel. Its automatic Calibre GP9620 is an in-house tourbillon movement that Girard-Perregaux introduced last year.

The Laureato Fifty design includes a more sharply finished octagonal bezel, with a polished chamfer around its base. The bracelet has flatter, more angular links and a butterfly clasp with built-in micro-adjustment. Those details remain part of the new watch, so the visual revision centers on the movement rather than a redesign of the case or bracelet.

Rose gold changes how the skeletonized display reads. Last year’s model used white-gold bridges against an all-silver presentation; the new bridges, hands and indices use rose gold. The warmer tone separates those components from the surrounding steel-colored mechanism, making the bridge layout easier to pick out at a glance. The effect is especially relevant on a watch whose open construction puts the mechanics in full view.

The three-bridge arrangement dates to 1867. Here, its appeal rests on both its history and its engineering display: the bridges organize the visible components while drawing the eye along the movement from barrel to gear train to tourbillon. Hand-finishing adds detail to the exposed surfaces, though it also underscores that this is a complicated, high-priced mechanical watch rather than a tool watch whose main selling point is rugged use.

What the water-resistance increase means

The rating rises to 50m from 30m on last year’s Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges, a 40 percent increase. That is a measurable improvement, but the specification alone doesn’t describe the conditions in which a watch should be used. Buyers should follow Girard-Perregaux’s guidance for water exposure and care, particularly given the watch’s tourbillon movement and $182,000 price.

For comparison within the product’s own lineup, the number is a meaningful change on paper. It gives the new model a higher stated resistance than its predecessor, while leaving its shape and movement architecture intact. The safest reading is a revised specification, not a reason to treat this skeleton watch as dedicated equipment for aquatic activity.

Availability and price

Unlike the 50-piece edition released last year, the new Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges is not limited and joins Girard-Perregaux’s Laureato Fifty collection. Its $182,000 price is $7,000 above the earlier model’s $175,000 price. The central decision for a prospective buyer is therefore whether the revised rose-gold display and higher water-resistance rating justify the added cost, alongside the established case design and Calibre GP9620.

Girard-Perregaux has kept the design’s defining architecture in place while changing its palette and increasing its stated water resistance. The result remains a highly technical, open-worked Laureato, with the rose-gold bridges providing the clearest visual distinction from last year’s 50-piece release.
